Grain Monster.

This is Sophie.  She is my little Pomeranian cross, mutt.  One of her favorite things to do, and I am not kidding, is going over to the barn, run loose, eat horse pooh (although we’re working on that), and run like a crazy thing in the “big sand-box,” the arena to us humans.  =)  Oh did I mention she likes to steal bite fulls of the horses’ grain?

Errika is my Arabian mare.  She is 23.  In August of this year, she underwent emergency colic surgery.  The pictures you see above are not only of a delicate, and precious horse, but also the physical whims of true inspiration.  An angel that goes across the earth not by wings, but on hooves.

I really haven’t had much chance to photograph anything but my horses. But nonetheless I enjoy doing so. It was a spur of the moment picture escapade with Errika. I just decided I wanted to snap various shots the best I could, free lance as usual. Everything comes at it does, nothing is staged. It’s difficult to capture, and let alone well, animals. Especially a grass crazy mare, in knee-high grass. She was flinging her head left and right ripping apart the grass and she vigorously mowed it down.
